Conference committee outlines compromise on H.454 education provisions, shifts district-boundary work to separate task force

Committee Member 2, conference committee member, said the panel reviewing H.454’s education sections has largely reached agreement on several substantive items and has moved the district-boundary drawing responsibility out of the commission and into a separately resourced task force.

The move matters because, committee members said, it separates the technical boundary work from the broader commission charged with public engagement and future-state education planning. Committee Member 2 said the task force will coordinate closely with the commission and that the panel kept a December 1 reporting date rather than the November 1 date proposed elsewhere.
