The Winchester Public School Board approved the appointment of Ray France to the Museum and Archives Board at the May 27 meeting.
Doctor Van Newkel recommended France, noting he taught English and journalism at John Hanley High School for 35 years and served 15 years as yearbook advisor, and has experience with archival projects. "He brings a skill set with him and a passion for this work," Van Newkel said.
A motion to appoint France passed on a voice vote. "Got a motion by Mister Allen, a second by Miss Burrow. All in favor? Aye. Alright. Motion passes," the chair said.
The Museum and Archives Board manages artifacts and annual projects related to John Hanley High School history. The board’s appointee will assist in preserving and presenting historical materials held at the school.
