Edinburg CISD honors student winners across art, UIL, CTE, robotics and FFA
Summary
Board recognized dozens of students for placements and championships in the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Western Art Contest, UIL academic competitions, TMSEA number sense, HOSA, BPA, SkillsUSA, robotics and FFA state competitions.
The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees honored students and sponsors from across the district for awards in art, UIL academics, career and technical education and FFA.
Leticia Quintanilla and other sponsors were recognized for Travis Elementary students who placed in the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Western Art Contest; students named included Delinda Alfaro, Amaya Santana, Noah Martinez, Kinsley Vargas, Benjamin Avalos, Catherine Duarte, Zaidi Villanueva and others. The board presented a recognition to Lauren Quintanilla for 13 years of participation and placements in the Western Art Contest representing the district.
Antonio Westeros, director of after‑school programs, presented honors for Edinburgh North High School’s accounting team and the number sense team, noting a second‑place finish at the UIL state accounting competition and a state championship in number sense at the Texas Math Science and Coaches Association event. Coaches and sponsor names were recognized publicly.
Richard Valdez, director of CTE, recognized student winners in a city graphic design contest whose work will be used by the city on trash roll‑off bins, and students who advanced to state competition in HOSA, BPA, SkillsUSA and FFA. The transcript lists multiple students, coaches and sponsors across the district; the board publicly thanked sponsors and parents for supporting the students.
