Council ratifies finance manager termination; authorizes advertising for finance and zoning positions

Columbia Borough Council on May 27 ratified the termination of the borough’s finance manager and authorized staff to advertise the position, and separately voted to advertise for a zoning officer.
Council person Kaufman moved to ratify the termination of the finance manager; Council person Fisher seconded the motion and the council approved the ratification by voice vote. The council then approved a motion—moved by Council person Fisher and seconded by Council person Kaufman—to authorize staff to advertise the finance-manager vacancy. Council likewise authorized staff to advertise for a zoning officer on a motion moved by Council person Fisher and seconded by Council person Giese.
During public comment, resident Sharon Littner asked when the borough audit would be available. A staff member said the audit had been received last week, staff had not completed a full review, and the auditor would present at the last meeting in June. The council confirmed financial reports would be presented at the first meeting in June and again at the second meeting.
The council took no additional personnel actions beyond authorizing the job advertisements during the May 27 meeting.
