Boys & Girls Club of Sierra Vista reopens renovated main site, launches eight-week summer program

Jay, a representative of the Boys & Girls Club of Sierra Vista, told KWCD listeners the organization has completed renovations at its main location and will reopen for the club’s eight-week summer program starting Monday.
"Our renovation is done, and our main location will be open for our summer program," Jay said, adding that the club expanded its gym to serve more children and sports programs.
The club’s summer program runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., includes breakfast and lunch, features weekly guest speakers and field trips, and offers on-site STEM, arts and athletics activities. Jay said programming is organized by grade for the coming school year and that the club serves children from incoming first grade through twelfth grade.
Jay said the organization opened a third location at the start of the school year and temporarily closed the main site for renovations about a month into classes. He described an ongoing partnership with the school district that transports students directly to the club after school so families have a stable after-school option. "By the time you pick them up from work, hopefully their homework is done," he said.
Parents and community members were invited to an open house at the main location at 1746 Paseo San Luis from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Jay said the club accepts volunteers, in-kind donations such as art supplies and computer materials, and financial donations to support scholarships so no child is turned away for financial reasons.
