Why it matters: the tree line sits adjacent to a public shared‑use path and provides visual access to the waterfront. Board members discussed the risk that cleaning the sheltered area could invite informal use of the cleared space; staff said the primary goal is vegetation management and public safety.
Scope and contracting: Martin said RDA maintenance staff would remove the worst of the dead material and that the contractor would “beat back the poison ivy and make it look more presentable” for a quoted cost of $3,500. The contract was approved by roll call and authorizes the chair to sign.
Next steps: work will be scheduled with the contractor; staff acknowledged regrowth is likely and described the effort as a one‑time cleanup rather than ongoing remediation.
