The Civic Center Commission reviewed and affirmed an executed-value total of $2,097,338 for the project architect’s contract, a figure staff presented to consolidate prior approvals and provide clarity for ongoing and upcoming design tasks.
Matt, staff member, said recent change orders have lowered the contract’s active value to about $1,000,897 but that keeping the $2,097,338 figure on the record would allow room for anticipated design work tied to arena lower-level designs, the chiller project and exterior lighting. "I would ask that the commission review and approve the $2,097,338 value for the architect's contract to date," Matt said.
Commissioners debated whether to raise the number higher as a contingency; staff said they preferred to keep the approved value aligned with executed amendments and return with specific change-order requests as projects develop. The commission voted to approve the $2,097,338 value as presented.
Staff said additional design amendments (for example, for the arena lower-level concept and chiller design) will be presented to the commission when firm proposals and costs are available.
