Matt, staff member, said the architect indicated that regardless of whether the commission selects a round revolving door or double doors, geotechnical work would be required because of sidewalk heave. "Even if we don't put in the round revolving door, we still need to repair the sidewalk," he said. The $50,450 estimate covers three phases of work; staff said the full amount would cover all phases but that initial phases could cost $20,000–$30,000 depending on findings.
Commission discussion included whether electrical service should be run now for future door power needs; staff said power is not in the current scope and would be considered separately when exterior lighting and other designs are advanced. Commissioners also asked that the final concrete replacement be made complementary to existing sidewalk finishes when possible.
The motion to approve $50,450 for the geotechnical and sidewalk-repair planning passed on a roll-call vote with Commissioners Giuffredo, Kevin Gould, Commissioner McElroy and Commissioner Tony Economo voting yes.
