Team Framingham raises nearly $100,000 for local charities; council recognizes volunteers

Ross said Team Framingham raised $99,016 for five local charities in the latest year — Call to Talk, Family Promise MetroWest, Bethany Hill Place, Framingham History Center and Leadership MetroWest — bringing the program’s lifetime total to $1,147,933.40.
Ross described the program’s structure: bibs are allocated via the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) lottery plus one local donated bib; mentors train runners and a steering committee of nine coordinates the effort. He said 26 runners participated this year and 23 finished; earlier cumulative program numbers were also recited.
Councilors and other speakers thanked the volunteers and recognized community partners who provide in‑kind support and logistics, including the Department of Public Works for installing banners and MWRTA (bus support) and local business partners. During remarks Councilor Cannon (chair) noted an anonymous $985 donation that pushed the season total above $100,000, and councilors posed for a group photo with Team Framingham members.
The council’s recognition was a ceremonial acknowledgment; no formal action or funding decision followed. Organizers invited residents to participate in the program and acknowledged the role of local sponsors and mentors in enabling fundraising and training.
