West Chester hires two police officers; one sworn in at meeting

The West Chester Township Board of Trustees approved two personnel hires in the police department and administered an oath of office.
Staff announced the hire of Robert Andrews as a police officer, effective June 2, 2025, at a biweekly rate of $2,835. Andrews is in the Marine Corps Reserves and currently attending academy training and will be sworn in at a later date because he could not be released from academy training that night.
Trustees also approved hiring Connor Bierwinkle (spelled “Berwinkel” in parts of the record) as a police officer; staff said he completed an internship and will begin training at Sinclair Police Academy on June 9. Bierwinkle came forward and took the oath of office at the meeting.
Trustees offered congratulatory remarks and urged safety and service. The motion to approve the personnel items carried by roll call.
