Brook Park’s service committee approved placing a resolution on the May 20 agenda authorizing submission of an application to the Ohio Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) to seek state funding for road and infrastructure work connected to a proposed dome stadium and adjacent mixed‑use development.
Mayor Orcutt and Service Director Beyer told council the TRAC application would request funding for several transportation projects tied to the potential build‑out: widening the I‑71 northbound exit, an exit/entry configuration at I‑71 south, modifications to Angle Road, and a proposed slip ramp west of Snow Road to serve the mixed‑use area. The mayor and staff said preliminary project estimates are in the “70‑plus million” range and that TRAC scoring favors economic development and capacity improvements.
Service Director Beyer and the mayor said multiple traffic studies are underway. Beyer summarized the studies’ early findings as showing essentially “0% growth” in daily traffic for most days of the year but higher volumes on event days; staff emphasized the studies will continue and that layouts and final engineering have not been certified. Councilmembers asked whether properties or residences would be taken; the mayor said there is sufficient room for many of the proposed improvements and that eminent‑domain actions were not anticipated in the near term.
A motion to place the TRAC application resolution on the May 20 council agenda (item M‑1) for first reading was made and seconded; the clerk called the roll and the motion carried. The mayor and staff said further planning, rezoning, preliminary development and final development plans will go through the planning commission and council and that additional legislation and public materials will be shared as studies are completed.
