Euclid City Council approved the first amendment to the 2025 appropriation ordinance (Ordinance 052-25), increasing funding across several capital and operating accounts.
The amendment includes a $33,000 increase to the general fund finance department to hire an additional entry-level position, a $1,864,000 increase to the Street Maintenance and Construction fund for city street repairs, a $10,000 increase to the Neighborhood Stabilization Fund (fund 252), additional wastewater treatment funding for heavy equipment, and increases to the waterline fund for several street segments. Administration said much of the waterline work will be reimbursed by the Cleveland Water Department once projects are complete.
The amendment was presented as the first amendment to the 2025 appropriation ordinance. Council moved to suspend the rules, forego second and third readings, and pass the emergency ordinance; the roll-call vote approved the measure.
Administration framed the changes as routine fiscal adjustments to reflect unplanned equipment needs, reimbursements, and project costs identified since the budget was adopted. Council did not request additional amendments during the session. The finance staff emphasized that reimbursements from Cleveland Water Department would offset much of the waterline fund increases.
Next steps: administration will proceed with the projects and hiring described in the amendment and return any required reporting to council in accordance with city fiscal procedures.
