County issues RFQ for Collins P. Lee Memorial Library and moves forward on Oconee Heights streetscape and community center purchases

The county manager briefed the Baldwin County Board of Commissioners on several capital projects, saying procurement steps are advancing for the Collins P. Lee Memorial Library and for streetscape and community center work in Oconee Heights and Harrisburg Park.
Carlos Tobar told commissioners the request for qualifications (RFQ) for the Collins P. Lee Memorial Library was issued that day; proposals and qualifications will be opened on June 23 and the Middle Georgia Regional Library will evaluate submissions and bring a recommendation to the board, likely at the first July meeting.
Tobar said a purchase order for a new community center building at Harrisburg Park was issued the previous day and that the Harrisburg streetscape project is underway as part of the site work. He also reported that evaluations of qualifications for the Oconee Heights streetscape will be completed this week and staff will enter negotiations with the recommended firm.
On utility upgrades, Tobar reminded the board the RAISE grant work includes moving water lines to the road edges in Oconee Heights, which has left loose gravel and temporary surface conditions. He said the county is coordinating water-line replacements with CDBG and other grants to avoid redoing pavement unnecessarily and that public notices and signage about loose gravel would be posted to warn residents.
