Commissioner Robinson moved to approve adding Article 3, “Short Term Rentals,” to Chapter 19 of the county code; Commissioner Burd seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. The board opened a public hearing on the proposed ordinance and received no public comments before taking the vote. Mr. Hall (staff) confirmed that a second reading had already been performed at a previous meeting.
The adopted amendment creates standards for privately owned residential properties used as vacation homes and makes explicit provisions for taxation of transient-occupancy rentals within the county’s unincorporated area. The board noted that the item had previously had a first reading on May 6, 2025. No revisions or amendments were recorded during the meeting, and commissioners did not direct further study or changes during the session.
The ordinance text will be incorporated into the county code as Article 3, Chapter 19, and enforcement and tax-collection details will follow standard county procedures for code amendments.
