Committee advances bill letting charter-boat captains deliver catch to restaurants

Rep. Lacombe said the bill expands partnerships among the charter-boat association, restaurant association and the Louisiana Sea Grant (referred to in testimony as the state marketing board), promoting local seafood and tourism. Darren Beauvoir of the Louisiana Charter Boat Association testified in support and said the measure will strengthen partnerships between charter captains and restaurants. Representatives of the Louisiana Restaurant Association signaled support without speaking.
Senator Dhalla moved to report HB 497 favorably. With no objection, the committee reported the bill favorably.
