Megan, director of the Lynn Senior Center, reviewed the center's programming and health services, saying the center focuses on health, aging well and community information.
"All of these activities really support healthy, aging well, and community resources for our seniors," Megan said. She reported the center was open 20 days in April and served 1,182 seniors.
Megan listed recurring and upcoming offerings: crafts, art with Sunil, a game club, knitting and crochet, two six‑week programs from GLIS (healthy eating and chronic pain management), mindful meditation, chair yoga, and twice‑monthly assistance with MassHealth applications. She also said a Mass General Brigham medical van will visit for blood‑pressure and blood‑sugar checks on Tuesday, June 3, by appointment.
Planned trips and special events include visits to Richardson's Ice Cream in Middleton, strawberry picking in Haverhill, rotating casino trips (Encore, The Brook in New Hampshire, and others), a Pine Grove Cemetery trip, a Juneteenth presentation by Councilor Nicole McClain, and an AARP caregiving presentation. Megan also noted a bilingual UMass School of Nutrition program and senior chat presentations by community guests.
There was no formal vote; staff said program schedules and registration details are posted in the center newsletter and on the city's website.
