Astoria council approves one-year extension with Moss Adams for city audits

City manager Spence asked the council to approve a one-year contract amendment with Moss Adams LLP to continue audit services through the 2024–25 audit year. Spence told the council Moss Adams has fulfilled its three-year contract and the procurement allowed up to two one-year extensions. He said the amendment would cover the 2024–25 audit for the city (about $61,000), urban renewal agency audits (about $11,000), and financial-statement preparation work (about $21,000).
"We're proposing to provide a contract amendment that would allow us a one-year extension of their existing contract," Spence said. He recommended council approval and noted finance director Hilary Norton was available for questions. No members of the public spoke on the item.
Councilor Davis moved to approve the consent calendar, which included the Moss Adams contract amendment. The motion was seconded by Councilor Lum and carried by voice vote; the mayor announced the motion carried.
The amendment authorizes the city manager and finance director to finalize the one-year extension consistent with the amounts discussed. The contract renewal schedules audit coverage for the city and its urban renewal agencies and preserves continuity in auditing and financial-statement preparation work while staff continues periodic procurement planning for future audit services.
