Lawrence County honors civic scholars; commissioners praise program and mentors

The board moved to approve the proclamation listing recipients including Reese Ingalls, Blake Mettinger, William Scott Salyers, Alex Nall, Ian Whaley, Gavin Simpson, Dylan Collins, Nanny Fitzpatrick, Isabel Swindler, Nora Lorani, Molly Dunlap, Isabella James, Annabella Weinsweig and Mikaela Burris.
Commissioner comments praised the students’ projects and the program’s mentors. A commissioner noted that Dylan Bentley championed the program and credited Tommy Blankenship for helping get it started. The board also mentioned proclamations and recognition from state officials and invited mentors and fellows to recent events.
The board offered condolences to the McKnight family after the recent death of Tom McKnight and called him “a beacon of service and hope to the Caulgrove community,” remarks delivered in the same segment praising the fellowship’s mentors.
The proclamation motion passed with recorded affirmative votes by Colton Copley, Deanna Holliday and Mike Finley.
