Washingtonville board approves routine resolutions, reschedules two public hearings for June 2

The Washingtonville Village Board voted to approve a set of routine resolutions and to reschedule two public hearings to Monday, June 2.

The board approved Resolution 25-0069 to schedule a public hearing on a proposed local law allowing separate irrigation water meters and Resolution 25-0070 to reschedule a hearing on an amendment to village code Chapter 260 (streets and sidewalks) regarding sidewalk cafes; both hearings were set for June 2 at 7 p.m. The motions to schedule those hearings passed by voice vote recorded as 4–0–1 (four in favor, none opposed, one absent).

The board also approved hiring Jack W. Deese as seasonal summer help for the Department of Public Works, effective May 19, 2025, at an hourly wage of $16.50. The board authorized Resolution 25-0072 permitting Mayor Thomas Domingo or a designee to sign an agreement with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to allow the Washington Police Department continued use of the sheriff’s firearms training facility.

Finance-related actions included approval of budget transfers and amendments to cover warrants and billings; the board recorded transfers from the general fund ($63,532.72), a second fund listed in the minutes at $48,798.45, and the sewer fund ($33,113). The motions passed 4–0–1.

Finally, the board approved Resolution 25-0074 granting a facility-use request from Saint Mary’s Horizons youth group for a pickleball tournament at Elver and Allen Park on Sunday, June 8, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for three courts, conditioned on receipt of a certificate of insurance. The motion passed 4–0–1.

All the listed motions were moved, seconded and approved on voice votes recorded in the minutes as passing 4–0–1; the meeting record did not include individual roll-call vote names for the motions.
