Franklin Township names Sheba Uddin deputy mayor, confirms slate of attorneys and professionals

The Franklin Township Council on Jan. 7, 2025 voted by acclamation to appoint Sheba Uddin as deputy mayor and approved a slate of professional appointments including the township attorney, bond counsel, tax appeal counsel and court officials.
The nomination for deputy mayor came from Councilmember Joseman Patasnick; nominations were closed and the council voted by acclamation to appoint Sheba Uddin to the one-year position. After the vote Uddin addressed the council and audience, saying she would "not take this opportunity lightly" and describing family support and her intention to visit businesses and neighborhoods to hear residents' concerns.
During the reorganizational portion of the meeting the council confirmed the following professional appointments for terms noted on the agenda: Lou Renaud (township attorney), Margaret (Peg) Schaeffer (tax appeal counsel), Everett Johnson (bond counsel), Robert W. Swisher (township auditor), Robert Russo of CME (township engineer), Maureen Bella (chief municipal court judge), Mohammed S. Jalloh (township prosecutor), Norman W. Albert (associate prosecutor), Ryan Albert (alternate prosecutor) and Dennis Osiello (public defender). Council members moved, seconded as required, and approved each appointment by roll call or acclamation as recorded on the meeting agenda.
Council members offered congratulations to the appointees and to Uddin. The meeting then proceeded to board and committee appointments and other reorganizational business.
