Council approves consent agenda including MFT street program, biosolid management extension and equipment purchase

At its May 20 meeting, the Jacksonville City Council approved its consent agenda, which bundled several administrative reports, resolutions and contract actions for single consideration and passage.

Items approved included the city treasurer's report for April 30, 2025; planning and public works resolutions including a declaration of surplus property (a 2015 Ford Taurus and an IBM typewriter) for the Community Development Department; authorization of the 2025 MFT street maintenance program under the Illinois Highway Code; an engineering services agreement for the South Main Street DCEO Rebuild Downtowns and Main Street "Grama" project; and an appropriation of MFT funds for the South Main Street DCEO project.

The utilities-related consent items approved included a one-year extension with J Oros Environmental Inc. for the biosolid management program at the wastewater treatment plant and the lime residual management program at Water Treatment Plant No. 2; a waiver of advertisement for bids and acceptance of a proposal from Key Equipment and Supply Company to purchase an EnviroSight Versa Lite Pro Plus 200 push camera with key-cart altering wheels; and authorization of payments from the waterworks and sewage project fund for services rendered and improvement projects.

Council members were offered an opportunity to pull individual items for discussion; no items were pulled. The clerk called the roll on the consent agenda and the council approved the package; the chair announced, “Motion carries.”

The consent agenda consolidated routine administrative and capital items so that the council could proceed to other business.
