Council approves fluoride data-sharing memorandum of understanding with oral health coalition

Lititz Borough Council approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to share monthly fluoride measurements from the borough's water treatment plant with the Coalition for Oral Health for the period Sept. 1, 2024 through Aug. 31, 2025.
Councilmember Ken explained the data-sharing request and said staff followed up with Inframark (the borough's water operator) to confirm measurement units and sampling frequency. Staff reported Inframark measures fluoride in milligrams per liter (mg/L) monthly on samples taken as water leaves the treatment plant; the contractor uses the measurement for process control before distribution. Council approved the MOU, described in the meeting as a memorandum of understanding rather than a regulatory transfer of records, and voted in favor by voice vote.
Ken said the MOU addresses a single data point requested monthly and that staff's follow-up satisfied technical questions raised earlier.
