Lititz Public Library outlines summer reading program, 'Color Our World', and Touch-a-Truck kickoff

Payonk said the library provides 18 weekly programs during the indoor season, one of the highest program rates in Pennsylvania libraries, plus multiple outdoor storytimes in spring and fall that draw 20 to 40 families depending on weather. The library's 2025 summer reading theme is "Color Our World," and Lancaster County's countywide program runs from June 7 through August. The library will hold a kickoff event on June 7 featuring a Touch-a-Truck program; the borough will provide a vacuum truck for that event.
Payonk stressed the program's role in preventing "summer slide," the learning loss that can occur when students pause reading and academic activities during the summer. She thanked the borough for financial support and invited council and residents to attend free library programs. Julie Maisky, a library board member, attended the presentation and echoed thanks to council.
