Hamilton County commissioners adopted a digital-accessibility policy in ordinance form on May 27 to align county website content with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Title II guidance regarding accessibility.
Staff explained the ordinance is intended to ensure information posted to the county website is available to individuals with hearing, visual or other impairments and that the policy will be part of the county’s governance, risk and compliance manual. Staff clarified the policy applies to county website content rather than social media.
Commissioners moved to suspend the rules and adopt the policy on first reading; roll-call votes were taken and the ordinance was approved. Staff said legal and governance teams will add the policy to the county’s governance materials and implement the accessibility standards on the county website.
