Board adopts VISTA English-language curriculum for multilingual learners

The Westminster board voted to adopt the VISTA Higher Learning K–12 English language acquisition curriculum after a yearlong pilot and RFP process; the curriculum will be implemented in the 2025–26 school year.
Heidi Weekley, representing the district's CLDE (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education) department, presented a formal recommendation to adopt the VISTA Higher Learning K–12 English language acquisition curriculum for multilingual learners, following an RFP, a full-year district pilot and professional development.
"The curriculum was carefully selected to meet the academic and linguistic needs of our multilingual learners," Weekley told the board during the May 27 meeting. The district recommended adopting the VISTA materials—including online licenses, print materials, teacher manuals and consumables—with full implementation planned for 2025–26.
A board member moved to adopt the curriculum and another seconded the motion. During roll call Veronica Gleaton called votes: Miss Martinez Aye, Miss Murphy Aye, Mister Orequio Yes, Miss Yanez Yes. The motion passed.
Board members thanked CLDE staff for a study-session presentation earlier in the month and for the pilot implementation data.
