A Wellington resident reported May 27 that Comcast/Xfinity contractors damaged multiple irrigation lines during fiber installation in the Painted Horse Lane neighborhood and that the company has not paid for repairs.
Dan Sattler, who identified himself from 90 28 Painted Horse Lane, told trustees the contractor performed boring and installation without the homeowner’s preferred contractor present, despite the resident providing diagrams showing the locations of irrigation lines. Sattler said the work cut through larger irrigation pipe and that repairs have cost “somewhere between $4.04 and $5,000 in damages” and that Xfinity has refused to accept responsibility, telling the resident they are “not responsible for any damages that are in the right of way.”
A second speaker identified as Tim, who described himself as the landscape contractor, said he met with Xfinity last fall, provided blueprints and that two separate boring contractors worked and left; he described temporary, poor repairs that later leaked and said homeowners have been unable to reach Xfinity through numbers provided on flyers. Tim told trustees the pipe breaks aligned exactly with where the contractor had been told the lines were located.
Mayor Pro Tem Mason thanked the speakers and said the board would “take it under advisement” and asked the residents to keep trustees updated as they pursue the matter; no board action was taken that night. The residents said they would pursue legal action if the company did not resolve the claims. Trustees did not indicate any immediate enforcement action; staff advised to stay informed and follow up with the town if additional incidents are found.
