The change was presented during the council’s May 27 meeting as a routine year‑end adjustment. Councilman PT moved to adopt the ordinance and the motion was seconded; a roll call recorded votes in favor by Eli, Nielsen, Harrington and PT and the motion carried.
City staff explained the amendment is intended to keep the city within the tolerance used by state auditors. “This is just in preparation of the year‑end closing,” Clarissa, a staff member, said. She described the change as the standard step the city takes when actual revenues or expenditures diverge from the adopted budget over the year.
The council did not add policy changes or attach new programs to the ordinance; the discussion centered on accounting recognition and compliance with the state benchmark the staff cited. The formal motion and unanimous vote completed the action during the meeting.
