Student representatives report college visits, internships and end-of-year activities

Caitlin Marber, student representative from Central High School, and Derek Devona, student representative from George de Wert High School, gave the board their quarterly reports on school activities, career and college experiences, and end-of-year events. "Hello again. My name is Caitlin Marber, and I'm here tonight to provide an update on events and happening at Central High School," Marber said.
Marber told the board that in February 10th-grade students visited Lakeshore College for an exploration day, and that Central students formed a new childcare internship partnership with Child's Play daycare; she said, "we have 6 students who have been, participating in an internship program this trimester, getting hands on experience in childcare each week." She also reported Central students attended a workplace learning and career fair at Lakeland University and held a Health Career Day on April 8 with "over 30 business and community members on-site to talk about careers, career pathways, and answer questions about career possibilities." Marber noted a partnership with United Way and an instructor from Yoga on the Lake, and she recognized teacher Sarah Allen as an "SASD difference maker."
Derek Devona, who identified himself as a sophomore representing George de Wert High School, described his school's senior events and academic recognitions. He said tomorrow evening the graduating students will have their graduation party at the Sheboygan Yacht Club and that "Jason Geer, Donna will be the guest speaker." He listed graduating students who earned college credits through the UW–Green Bay Rise Phoenix program and named nine students: "Elizabeth Alexander, Azriel Bergey, Genevieve Bridal, Colby Ganaway, Asif Hauser, Madison Cooney, Jayda Jada Nelson, Shine Osmer, and Skyler." Devona also described finals week activities, spirit week, prom and an Arbor Day tree-planting where students planted 40 trees of several species.
Both student representatives closed by thanking the board for the opportunity to present. The reports focused on college and career exposure, internships and community partnerships; no board actions or votes were taken on these reports.
