Parks & Recreation committee reports playground deliveries, rec center upgrades and summer programs

Rossford’s Parks and Recreation Committee updated council on capital improvements — new playground equipment for Beach Street Park, rec center security installation, and a kitchen/flooring permit pending with Wood County — and on program and event dates including summer camp beginning June 9 and Riverfest on Aug. 16.
The Rossford Parks and Recreation Committee reported on May 27 that capital improvements and seasonal programs are underway. Committee members said the new playground equipment for Beach Street Park should be delivered soon, and the rec center security system is installed and operating. A permit for kitchen and flooring renovations is being finalized with Wood County.
Committee members listed program openings and dates: softball games, coach pitch and tee ball practices have begun; Little League football and cheerleading registration is open; summer camp registration is open with the first day on June 9. The rec center will partner with Cedar Creek Church for a serve day on July 26 at Island View Park from 9 a.m. to noon. Community events announced included Riverfest on Aug. 16 and a Halloween parade on Oct. 26.
Attendees at the committee meeting included Toby Ledesma, Larry Obertoff, Brenna Renner, Dan Wilburn, Terry McKnight and Caroline Zukowski Echol. No council action was taken; the report was submitted as informational.
