Seventh Circuit State Attorney and Flagler sheriff’s office honor student winners in Crime Stoppers poster contest

Officials from the Seventh Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office joined the school board May 27 to recognize winners of the Flagler County Student Crime Stoppers poster contest.
Chief Assistant State Attorney John Reed said the multijurisdictional contest (covering Volusia, Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns counties) invites students at elementary, middle and high school levels to create anti‑crime posters. “The artwork is amazing,” Reed said, describing first, second and third place awards that come with cash prizes: $200 for first place, $150 for second and $100 for third at each level.
Chief Deputy Joe Borrelli of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office thanked participants and the schools for their involvement. Winners and classes were called to the dais for photos; among schools and classes recognized were Old Kings Elementary and several middle and high school winners (presented by their teachers). Reed said the state attorney’s office and partners display winning posters in courthouses, schools and the state attorney’s office.
The board and presenters applauded the students’ artwork and emphasized the program’s aim — encouraging students to “see something, say something” and to engage in public‑safety awareness while preserving anonymity for tips.
