The amendment to remove “digital” passed 5–3. The main motion to adopt the social media usage policy as amended was then approved 8–0; the motion had been moved by board member Stetzel and seconded by board member Butler.
Board members said the policy had been vetted by the district policy committee, which endorsed the set of policies presented for second reading. Vice President Farmer asked why the term “digital” had been included originally; proponents said the committee intended the policy to address technology use but that members were comfortable adopting the broader language after the amendment.
The board’s action completes second reading and adoption of the new social media usage policy. The district did not provide a timetable in the meeting for final implementation steps or staff training tied to the new policy.
