Ball Chatham CUSD 5 on May 28 approved out‑of‑state travel for the district show choir and multiple Glenwood High School athletic teams for the 2025–26 school year.
The administration described a multi‑stop schedule for the show choir, with planned trips to Anderson, Indiana (January); Troy, Missouri (February); Atkins, Wisconsin (February); Brownsburg, Indiana (March); and Nashville, Tennessee (March). The presentation noted the choir's boosters pay a significant portion of those trip costs.
For Glenwood High School athletics, the administration presented a range of tournament and invitational travel the board approved. The district will cover standard expenses per policy: transportation (school or district activity buses and vans), competition entry fees and lodging paid from the district travel budget. Meals will be split between the district travel budget and sports camp accounts in specified cases; the presentation noted that one overnight girls' wrestling trip will be paid from camp funds.
Board members moved and recorded affirmative voice votes to approve both the show‑choir and athletics travel items.
The administration said the trips provide student-athletes and performers additional competitive opportunities. No detailed itineraries, final cost breakdowns or insurance/waiver language were read into the public record during the meeting.
