Millersville’s coaching staff and alumni outlined immediate player‑safety purchases and longer‑term facility needs at an alumni event, asking for donations targeted to equipment, nutrition and stadium work.
Coach Jason Morgan described equipment purchases aimed at reducing injuries in practice: “Every one of our players will have a guardian cap on, come fall,” he said, referring to padded helmet covers used in practice. Morgan also discussed knee braces for interior linemen, estimating a per‑player cost of about $500 and saying the equipment need for 20–25 interior players would total roughly $12,500.
Morgan framed these investments as tangible, near‑term uses of donor dollars: he said the athletic staff is prioritizing “health and safety” items that provide immediate benefit, then broader facility projects such as stadium renovations and a new scoreboard. Athletic staff and alumni also discussed a proposed sports‑nutrition program to provide athletes with post‑workout food and daily nutritional guidance on campus—an effort the coach said will require outside support because Millersville does not operate a full training table like larger programs.
Organizers described naming opportunities and multiple ways of giving (IRA distributions, estate gifts, gifts of securities). They asked alumni to consider both equipment gifts and recurring support for ongoing operational needs.
Speakers urged donors to coordinate with the alumni office on specific projects rather than making ad hoc purchases so that the university and athletics staff can manage procurement and installation.
