Wayne County extends MK Construction contract to finish pedestrian bridge project in Westland

Wayne County Parks staff asked commissioners Oct. 11 to approve an amendment extending a construction contract with MK Construction to complete a pedestrian bridge over the Middle Branch of the Rouge River near Hines Drive and Ann Arbor Trail in the city of Westland.
Elizabeth (third chief of planning, Wayne County Parks) said the amendment extends the contract with no change in dollars and that contractors need to finish spring restoration work and paving adjacent to the bike path. "It's almost done. It just needed to do restoration for spring," she said.
Staff said once the contract amendment is approved the contractor will finish paving and grading at the bridge approaches and reseed disturbed areas so the bridge can be reopened for public use.
The amendment was included and approved as part of the consent motion covering items 1–9 on Oct. 11.
