Columbia County approved a Waze for Cities data‑sharing agreement that will let staff upload lane closures, school‑zone notices and other traffic advisories to the Waze platform and, indirectly, to Google Maps.
Transportation staff said the county attorney reviewed the draft agreement and that the tool will permit staff to publish roadwork and incident information. A commissioner asked whether the platform could help with recurring tractor‑trailer or RV navigation problems at specific locations; staff said the county can now note those incidents in the system but that some commercial vehicle navigation providers use alternate mapping solutions.
Staff recommended approval; the committee moved the item on consent and it was approved.
