The Columbia County Services Committee approved a one-year subscription to Kianta, the county’s new billing software, for $362,900.24 covering July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
County utilities staff told the committee the rollout encountered problems importing legacy account numbers and that staff had to reenter about 700 payments and handle a large spike in customer calls. Utilities staff praised employees who worked extra hours to process payments and answer residents.
As a result of the rollout issues, staff said the county will waive late fees and delinquent cutoffs for the affected month; the committee approved the subscription and the operational approach to customer issues.
Staff described the subscription as a budgeted item and recommended approval. Committee members noted a substantial increase in call volume reported in the workload report and thanked staff for the extra work answering customer inquiries.
