The Harlingen City Commission approved an ordinance on first reading amending the fiscal year 2024–25 revenue and expenditure budget and requested additional financial information on one bridge project.
During the budget item the mayor asked staff to provide the commission with the financial details for the free trade bridge; staff agreed to deliver those materials. The ordinance was then approved on first reading by voice vote.
Separately, the commission adopted a resolution to suspend the June 24, 2025 effective date of Texas Gas Service Company’s proposed interim rate adjustment for its Rio Grande Valley service area; staff described the action as the routine annual protective measure the city takes when utilities file rate changes.
Other administrative items approved included selection of the highest‑ranking consulting firm to negotiate a contract for a historic resources survey (RFQ 2025‑08). These items were approved by voice vote.
