Select Board approves new utility pole on Ash Street after public hearing

The Town of Templeton Select Board approved a request from Templeton Municipal Light (TML) and Verizon to add a utility pole on Ash Street after holding a public hearing.
The addition will place a mid-span pole between existing poles 4 and 5 on Ash Street, near house numbers 19 and 35, to shorten the long span and allow installation of covered primary wire that is more storm resistant than the existing bare copper. Tom Baron, superintendent of the light department, described the installation as a standard mid-span placement "in line with the other 2 poles," and said the covered primary wire will improve storm resistance.
The board opened a public hearing, permitted public comment, and then closed the hearing. With no public objections recorded, the board voted to approve the pole addition; votes were taken by roll call and passed unanimously.
The utility superintendent said the department would coordinate placement and address any minor site issues. The approval allows TML and Verizon to complete permitting and scheduling for installation.
