Residents raise traffic-safety concerns as Sunset Ridge subdivision nears completion

A resident reported, “Sunset Ridge is getting really close too. They're just kinda waiting on Encore to finish up the underground power, putting in their street signs today.” When asked where Sunset Ridge is located, a resident replied, “The 1, Business 67 Okay. By the Valero.”
Another resident asked whether the city planned to widen the nearby road to serve “those hundred something homes.” Staff replied there was no plan or agreement to widen the road at this time but that the city was “looking at making this corner right here a 2 way stop sign” because “people wanna cut that corner.” A board member said, “That's really dangerous,” and staff said they were “looking into that.”
Staff noted a longer-term hope that future commercial development would extend the road to 2280 and that any extension could be coordinated with the commercial developer; for now, the immediate priority is making the problematic corner safer, either by squaring it, adding curb, or other low-cost traffic-calming measures.
No formal action was taken; staff said they will investigate corner-safety improvements and return with options.
