At a May 2025 meeting, the Town of Templeton Select Board approved a revised fiscal-year 2026 meeting schedule that adds a July meeting, an October business meeting and changes November meeting dates to accommodate town meeting planning.
The change matters because it affects the timing to open and close the fall town meeting warrant and gives residents and advisory bodies more time to review warrant articles. The board voted to add a July 23 meeting and an October 22 meeting, to change November meetings to Nov. 5 and Nov. 19, and to set the fall town meeting for Nov. 12, contingent on the town clerk and moderator confirming venue and availability.
Board members discussed the timetable for opening and closing the warrant. The board decided to open the warrant on Aug. 27 and close it on Oct. 8, providing roughly six weeks for submissions and follow-up review; they also discussed an alternate two-week closing window and the advantage of a longer window for advisory committee review. The board agreed to schedule the annual retreat as an August 27 meeting and to use the select board conference room for meetings when feasible.
The board approved the schedule by motion; the roll call recorded unanimous support for the calendar amendments. Members said the longer schedule should reduce last-minute scrambles that have affected past warrant planning and will give advisory committees and residents more time to consider articles.
