At a May 2025 Select Board meeting, members reorganized the board’s leadership, electing Jeff Bennett chair, Candace Graves vice chair and Timothy Toth clerk.
The reorganization matters because the board’s chair and vice chair run and fill in for meetings and act as the board’s principal public spokespeople and signatories. The board also assigned members as liaisons to the Capital Improvement Committee, Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) and other regional bodies.
Jeff Bennett was nominated and accepted the nomination, telling the board, "I appreciate the confidence, and I will accept that nomination." The board voted to elect Bennett chair; the motion passed with unanimous support. For vice chair, Candace Graves was nominated and after discussion was elected; Robert May recorded a no vote while the motion otherwise carried. Timothy Toth accepted the clerk nomination and was approved by the board in a separate vote.
Board members also discussed and assigned several liaison roles. Members agreed to continue MRPC/MPO/MJTC representation and to appoint a member to the Capital Improvement Committee when openings are confirmed following the annual town meeting process.
The board made the votes on the record during the meeting; the minutes list each roll-call vote and the board’s motions.
The reorganization concludes the board’s initial organizational work for the new term; members noted they will finalize liaison appointments after confirming committee meeting schedules and any reappointments required by bylaw.
