The Common Council moved into closed session on May 20 under Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(g) to confer with legal counsel regarding pending litigation in Marathon County case 24-CV-40, Green Acres at Greenwood Hills LLC v. City of Wausau.
Alder Lisa Lukens made the motion and Alder Tierney seconded it; the roll-call vote on entering closed session was 10–0. The mayor, council members and city attorney participated in the roll call. The mayor said the council did not plan to take any action after closed session.
Before adjournment to closed session, the mayor invited public comment for any items members wished to raise because the council would not be returning for public action immediately afterward. Tom Killian of Citizens for a Clean Wausau delivered public comment on a related HUD matter (see Wyatt Street article). The council then recessed into closed session.
