The Common Council approved a finance resolution to proceed with airport terminal construction change orders and to temporarily fund about $75,000 in city-only expenditures while the city awaits reimbursement through the Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The mayor and Alderman Rasmussen said airport engineers and the airport manager provided assurances that FAA funding will reimburse the city, and that the city—s temporary funding is intended as gap financing so construction work can continue without interruption.
The finance committee had recommended proceeding; the council voted unanimously to approve the temporary funding.
Staff said the city expects approximately 95% of the project cost to be reimbursed by BOA/FAA, contingent on the BOA assuring FAA reimbursement.
