Anoka County HRA extends state lease at Blaine Human Services Center for one year

The Anoka County HRA unanimously approved a one-year lease extension (Lease Amendment No. 7) to contract C0005807 with the State of Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) for space at the Blaine Human Services Center. The amendment keeps anticipated rent revenue of $84,879.96 for the center while staff completes a broader lease and market analysis.
Corey Camp, chief financial officer for Anoka County, told trustees that recent issues with DEED’s use of rooms had been resolved after discussions with county administration and DEED. “We have resolved those issues. They will go back to using the rooms the way we wanted them to prior to two or three weeks ago,” Camp said. He described the one-year extension as a pause that allows staff to finish a market study and present a recommended plan for Blaine Human Services Center rents and agreements.
Trustees expressed appreciation for staff work in resolving the short-term concerns and for allowing time to complete the market analysis. After a motion and a second, the board conducted a roll-call vote; trustees recorded unanimous support for the extension.
Staff said the extension is intended to bridge operations while the county completes an evaluation of all leases and determines a longer-term pricing and operations plan for the Blaine facility. No additional financial commitments beyond the cited rent revenue figure were approved at the meeting.
