Shelton Springs Disc Golf event drew 3,000 visitors and local economic boost, organizers tell council

Organizers of the ProTubers Cascade Challenge at Shelton Springs told the council the event drew more than 3,000 on-site visitors over the weekend, produced hotel bookings, restaurant traffic and national exposure, and thanked city staff and volunteers.
Representatives of Mason County Disc Golf thanked the Shelton City Council for city staff support after the Shelton Springs course hosted the Disc Golf ProTubers Cascade Challenge over the weekend.
Justin Mulsgrove said the event drew “over 3,000 people on-site across the weekend,” including top-ranked professional players, teams, media crews and fans from around the country. He told the council the event brought national exposure to Shelton, booked local hotels and increased restaurant traffic.
Ryan Smith and other organizers credited parks staff and specific city employees by name, including Parks & Rec Supervisor Jordan Ruppels, public-works staff and the city manager; Smith said more than 100 volunteers helped with parking, route management and hospitality. Smith asked the council to support making the Cascade Challenge an annual event because of the economic benefit.
Councilors and the mayor congratulated organizers and noted interest in additional local lodging to support future events.
