Subcommittee advances $5.48 million budget for Psychiatric Security Review Board

Cochair Valderrama convened the Joint Subcommittee on Human Services on May 27 and opened a work session on House Bill 50 30, the budget bill for the Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB).

Mister Senior of the Legislative Fiscal Office presented the recommendation: “House Bill 50 30, as described, is the primary budget bill for the Psychiatric Security Review Board. LFO recommends a budget of $5,476,941 general fund, 13 positions comprising 13 FTE.” He said the recommendation also includes package 100, which “appropriates $319,500 general fund for the planning and analysis to support the replacement of the agency's legacy case management system.”

The subcommittee agreed not to change the agency's five legislatively proposed key performance measures; the LFO recommended continuing existing targets for fiscal years 2026 and 2027. A motion to adopt the LFO recommendation and the dash 1 amendment to HB 50 30 was made and carried with no objections recorded in the transcript.

The subcommittee's final action on the item was to move HB 50 30 as amended to the Ways and Means full committee with a due-pass recommendation. Cochair Valderrama said she will carry the bill on the house floor and assigned Senator Campos as a floor carrier on the senate floor.
