Spring‑Ford receives NAMM Foundation honor; district recognizes student music achievements

A NAMM Foundation representative told the board that the award selection is competitive and reviewed by an outside evaluator (the University of Kansas). He said this year 935 districts received the honor out of more than 14,000 U.S. school districts that may apply. The representative presented the district with the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education acknowledgment and praised the work of teachers, administrators and families.
Separately, music staff introduced students who earned spots in PMEA District 11 choir and orchestra, regionals, and in one case, All‑State (Allstate/Allstate representation referenced in the presentation). The students named by staff included Steven Cox (All‑State representation), Grayson Dreiberg, Yoshi (Konarapu), Shannon Rooney, Daniel Chu (PMEA composition contest winner), Connor Lisonbee, Thomas Brown, Catherine Mull and Sarah Rutkowski. Staff said Daniel Chu won the PMEA composition contest for the second time in two years.
What happened: the board accepted the award presentation and publicly recognized student musicians and their teachers. No board action or funding decision was tied to the award at the meeting.
