Senate panel recommends Theresa DeHaven for State Liquor Board

The committee voted 6-0-1 to recommend Theresa DeHaven’s confirmation to the Arizona State Liquor Board after she described nearly two decades of experience advising regulated industries and attendance at board meetings.
The Senate Regulatory Affairs and Government Efficiency Committee on April 23 recommended Theresa (Teresa) DeHaven for confirmation to the Arizona State Liquor Board.
DeHaven told the committee she brings nearly two decades of legal experience across highly regulated industries including privacy, technology, financial services, payroll, cannabis, human resources and insurance. “I am committed to serving with impartiality, integrity, and a focus on efficiency and transparency,” she said.
Committee staff summarized the board’s authority to grant and deny liquor licenses and to adopt rules governing license types. Staff also described the board’s seven-member structure and three-year terms, including requirements that most members not be financially interested in spirituous-liquor businesses and that one member be an elected municipal official.
DeHaven said she has been attending board meetings virtually and looks forward to serving on the board in person. A committee member moved to recommend her confirmation to the full Senate; the committee voted 6 ayes, 0 nays, 1 not voting and forwarded the recommendation.
