The resolution, read aloud by Mayor Leslie Hager Smith during the consent agenda, recalled that the Board of Visitors had adopted a Student Life Village Master Plan amendment in 2022 that envisioned increasing residential capacity “from 10,500 beds to roughly 13,500 beds.” The council’s approved text said the March 25 action rescinded that 2022 adoption and requested the board “to rescind its 03/25/2025 resolution and engage in a process that would include additional study of on campus housing needs, as well as collaboration with appropriate town officials regarding the impact of student housing in Blacksburg.”
