Provo’s municipal primary is scheduled for Aug. 12, and the general election will be held Nov. 4, city officials said during a Conversations with Cafusi interview.
Heidi, Provo city recorder and elections officer, told Mayor Cafusi that “These elections decide who will represent the citizens and the residents of Provo on the city council and as mayor,” and urged residents to check and, if necessary, update their registrations before ballots are mailed.
Registration is handled by the State of Utah; residents can visit vote.utah.gov to register, update an address or check their registration status. Heidi said Provo uses vote-by-mail: ballots will be mailed to voters’ homes. Residents may return ballots by mail, drop them in one of several city ballot boxes, or vote in person if they prefer.
The city plans to mail a voter information pamphlet to every household before the general election containing candidate photos and statements, Heidi said. She also said the city will announce a meet‑the‑candidates night in July and intends to post updates on the Provo elections page at provo.gov/elections. Heidi advised residents that the county will allow tours to view ballot‑counting machinery and the counting process.
No formal actions, votes or new policies were taken during the conversation. The remarks were informational: officials described procedures and dates and encouraged voter participation and verification of registration details.
